No zombies!

Is there a command that will automaticaly go through and kill all children when you try to kill the parent process.

Thanks,
David

That is normally dependent on how the source code was written and how the children were forked in the code. If this was not hard-coded into the parent-child relationships in the source code; then you can write a simple shell script (recommend PERL) to do what you want.

no zombies...

How would I go about writing the perl script. What I mean is that won't all the children become zombies once I kill the parent?

Not necessarily. Killing a parent process does not automatically create zombied children. Having said that Smilie you could kill the children first and kill the parent last.
