Unable to acces my pendrive in linux

Hi Gurus,
in linux I am unable to access my pendrive(i am even not seeing the icon or location for my pendrive ).
Please anyany could help me to get rid of this issue.

what is the output of the dmesg when you connect the pen drive ?!

nothing i am getting ( any messages).i just installed the linux and now when i insert the pendrive ,nothing happens.
now i just tried to mount by following these steps.
:mkdir /mnt/pendrive
then i added to the file /etc/fstab the following text
/dev/sda1 /mnt/pendrive auto noauto,user,rw,exec 0 0
but it is throwing the error :sad1 is not a valid block


could you please guide me to resolve the issue.

Kindly post the output after executing the following command.

Code:
dmesg

By executing the above, you could be able to find in which device it gets detected. And then you can mount using that.

when i type dmesg after inserting the pendrive ,it was throwing some error like usb 2 failed
and i restarted my pc and mounted the pendrive again and now it is workingfine
i used the following command
mount -t auto /dev/sda1 /mnt/pendrive

Hi, My current requirement is to log in ROOT to a Solaris 10 server using telnet. It is not advisable to enable telnet access but my requirement forces me to do so. Hi all, Can anybody help me with how I can connect a usb pendrive or external disk to a Sun Server which runs on Solaris 9?
