Replace \ with a new line
Dear Members,

I have a file which contains data in a single line. The data is huge and the delimiter between each data set is "/".

I need to replace "/" with a new line character so that i get many lines instead of one single line.

How can we do this?
I tried using the following but it did not work:

sed -e 's/:\:/:\n:/g' PGP_EDI_OUT822_CAFSEDI.20090812190012 > test.txt

what is the 'line separator'? Is it '/' or '\' or ':'? This is not clear from your topic/description/code.
Assuming it's '/':

The Line Separator is "\". I tried using your code its not working

Using sed the code would be:
