Mail Server on solaris (newbie)

Hello to all,

My company has installed CW LMS 3 on a Solaris 10 server. I want to configure the system as a mail server, so that it sends an e-mail when a network incident occurs. I have created a user account and I have configured Thunderbird Mozilla to retrieve the e-mails. I have configured the outgoing smtp server on thunderbird to be my solaris server and I am using pop3. When I try to retrieve the mails I get a message "Could not connect to server ip-address; the connection was refused".
I suspect that I am missing something in the configuration of the solaris server.
Process sendmail is working ok, as can be seen below:

smmsp 14413 1 0 Jul 28 ? 0:00 /usr/lib/sendmail -Ac -q15m
root 14412 1 0 Jul 28 ? 0:04 /usr/lib/sendmail -bd -q15m

I also checked to see if the mail command is working ok and I did manage to send a mail on a different user on the server.

Any help on setting the solaris server as a mail server will be highly appreciated.

The thing is that I am a network engineer and not a system engineer, so please be explanational in your answers.

Thanx in advance Smilie

As it turned out a package related to imap & pop3 was missing (I don't know which one), but it was installed and now everything is working properly Smilie
Thanx y'all
