curl command with web pages

I can't quite seem to understand what the curl command does with a web address. I tried this:

curl O'Reilly Media: Tech Books, Conferences, Courses, News

but I just got the first few lines of a web page, and it's nowhere on my machine. Can someone elaborate?

By default, curl writes to standard output, so to get it to write to a file you can either use the usual Unix file redirection
Code:
curl url > file

or use the -o or --output option
Code:
curl url -o file

The HTML file at the particular URL you have there only has a few lines (a 301 notice) anyway, so are you sure you got just the first few lines and not all of them?

I guess I meant to ask how does curl differ from, say, get? They both download files, right? So when would I use curl instead of get?
