Question Mac OSX question

Hi.

Is it possible to execute a Cocoa (or Carbon or eaven a classic) program for mac OSX in the terminal window?

OSX finder can sometimes be so busy that it wont respond for several minutes, ie if you are uploading a very big file/files to a afp server. Then it would have been nice to start an app through the terminal instead of waiting for the finder.

Yes, both. I've executed Carbon and Classic programs in an OS X terminal window. When a Classic (OS 9) program is started, it invokes the Classic environment (if not already running).

There is a previous thread on MAC OS X that discusses many of these architectural issues, BTW.

Sounds really great, but how to do?
I have tried several things but all I get is error messages. I have also searched on this site but I have not been able to find out how to start an application.

Can you help me how to start Chess for example?

Aaaahhh....

Geee.... it was to easy, I tried the wrong command, It worked nice with:

[localhost:/Applications] nicke% open Chess.app/

Thanx.

Strange, I have a very nice and colorful Aqua interface, but somehow it is more intresting to start applications through the Terminal. :-)

Question

Hi,

Does anybody know how to bring up a list of available commands for use in the Mac OS X terminal application ? Or even better: are there any sites or documents explaining these command functions ?
