won't allow root login from another terminal to my sun

I'm trying to log in to one of my sun boxes via EXCEED's X-terminal and it won't allow me to do so as root, says not at system console, is there a way to change that so it allows logging in as root at a remote terminal?

Look in /etc/default/login for CONSOLE to change this (comment out the line). This is considered a security issue (going in as root from a terminal).

hmm, got another problem

Well, found the /etc/default/login file and modified it to comment out the dev/console line. However, now I see another problem. I can telnet in as root from another terminal, but won't allow logins from any other user either telnet or doing X broadcast in Exceed. Any idea why? Thanks so much for all the help here, this has been an invaluable source for me.

Does /etc/nologin exist? That's the only thing that comes to mind.
