exim: help with mail :(

ok i have exim installed on my redhat 8.0 server

the exim dir is:

/usr/local/exim

and the mail queue is:

/var/spool/exim_mail

this is what the mail queue looks like:

http://www.thedigitaldream.co.uk/images/exim.gif

the problem is, mail stays there, where is it meant to go???

please help, i have no idea how exim works and the docs help me in no way Smilie

my mail has been down for about 2 weeks and its really starting to annoy me now

i just wanna know where the actual mail is meant to go, from the queue, and what format its in

also what could be wrong with the setup and why it doesn't work

the server sends mail fine

but everything that is recieved goes into the mail queue, and stays there, is that meant to happen???

also, what is a good pop3 server to use with exim

thanx

You can check out the exim.org faq for information.

From the link you provided, you show sets of files. Each starts with a control number (message id) and end in either -D or -H. One is the actual message (data) and one is the information on where it came from and is going to (header).

If you look at the -H files, you will see where these messages were going. If the account is valid, it should be viewed by that account owner or forwarded to the server that the account is on.

You will need to start with looking at the log files which should be in the log directory in exim's spool directory - especially the paniclog.

Can't be much more help without further info. Check out the faq as there are troubleshooting guides in it. Post back with your version of exim.
