Co existence (Coex) Batch app
can application lock or release the resource in OS in unix? how?

Let me be sure that I understand this. You have heard of a server and you have heard that this server is running two applications. You aren't going to tell us what this server is. You aren't going to give us any documentation for the two applications running on this server. And you want us to look into our crystal balls and tell you why these two applications were not written as a single application???

Sorry, but my crystal ball isn't providing me with a clear enough picture to guess at an answer for your question.
