Yes I did use shadow

However I am not getting the etc directory when I mount.
I only have /etc/shadow

Then, you are not mounting the file root filesystem from your OS (which explains the failure with chroot). It was not very likely that /dev/sda6 was your root filesystem, as you confirmed. /etc/shadow is from the LiveCD.
Please, try:

Code:
mount /dev/sda1 /mnt/forget
ls -l /mnt/forget/etc

See if that's the filesystem. If not try again with the others, until you find the one that has etc

Please, follow the first set of instructions if you can now, using chroot. That's a bit safer.
If not, try the last resort option of blowing the password, manually.

Ok I got in now

There is still a problem that hagbard has standard account, not administrator privileges

Could you post the output of the following commands?

grep bash /etc/password

Note: There is no password or sensitive information in /etc/password, despite the file name password. Just account names and shells. That's why you as a regular user can read that file.
