hi,
am trying to backup data on cd, cuz i don not have tape device....!!!
i've rewritable CDROM,
am using solaris 10 for x86 on vmware .....

how to make a backup data to a cd_rom againist to tape ?

# ufsdump 0f cd_rom

You can't really do that, AFAIK. CD ROMs usually require special programs to put them into write-mode. I suppose Solaris 10 could have built-in such a driver into the CD, but the problem is that CDs are not read-write devices. They're read OR write devices. Look for some software out there that allows you to burn files to your CD. You can then pipe ufsdump through split, staging it to the file system (Temporarily) and then burning those files to the CDs.
