Power file size

The situation is this

I Will be getting or running a job to get files from an ftp site every day. I want to compare the size of the file in the ftp site and the size which i had received by ftp. how to do this. I am in solaris 2.x. I hope ther is no command like remote file size . Can anyone help me how to do it

See your other post ftp file size.

If you don't control both sites, you may not be able to implement that solution. You would have to have the other system's admin send the files a certain way and some folks just won't listenSmilie

There is no command in ftp to check the file size but you may be able to see the file size via ftp dir command. It matters on the ftp running. Possible that you could compare it but I've not done it this way before.

How to use 'df' only to get the 'Available' space for a specific dir, and then compare with a specific file size using stat -c %s file.txt to see if the file actually can be copied into the dir. Is there any quick way to see if a file can fit into a dir? (4 Replies)

Directory size larger than file system size?

Hi, We currently have an Oracle database running and it is creating lots of processes in the /proc directory that are 1000M in size. The size of the /proc directory is now reading 26T.
