Are the default password setting parameters (that are in /etc/login.defs) only used when a new local account is created on a server?

So I am attempting to implement a UDP server on an older Solaris 9 box; the server will be handling packets at a rate of about 12/sec and will be constructing acknowledgment messages on the fly.

Hi,
I can see "udpInOverflows" errors when I execute 'netstat -s' on my Solaris box.
The number of errors are small - about 40.
e.g.
$ netstat -s|grep udp
UDP udpInDatagrams =1249190732 udpInErrors = 0

In our Cron table, we have the /etc/subsync client ipadr1 ipadr2
Each ipadr is an actual IP adress.
