Debian Errors received while restoring my data from ext3 filesystem

Hi All,

I have dual boot on my laptop - Win8 And linuxMint.

From linuxmint i had copied all my data found on the NTFS partitions (on my laptop) to an
external hard drive (formatted with ext3). i used rsync for this.

Quote:
rsync -avr
Now after my hard disk crashed, am restoring the data back from ext3 to an ntfs partition. am receiving errors for a few files. the error is below:

Quote:
rsync: readdir("/media/external01/DATA02/BW_MUSIC-5/songs14/aaaa (2013)"): Input/output error (5)
I can't even rename the file on the external hard drive (formatted with ext3).
i also tried cp but not working.

someone please explain to me why this is happening and offer me some solutions.

thanks.

Are you using "ntfs-3g" to mount the windows partition as read/write?
Which version of linuxmint are you using?
