How to access website without port in Ubuntu 14.04?

Hello All,

I am trying to open a webpage in ubuntu browser "xxx.com:8008" which works fine but i would like to open it without having to mention the port,

Is there anyway in ubuntu where we can access the website without having to mention 8008 port. Thanks in advance.

when you don't mention the port, its 80.
the usual way is to configure the port number on server, I think.
perhaps you could do it with firewall/proxy/NAT.

Hi,

Depending on the browser that you use, you will be able to go into the settings for your browser and configure an exception. In Firefox this would be in Options, Advanced, Network then Connection Settings. Here you would define how you would like to connect to this particular web page, it can also be setup in the browser config files.
