Folder changed as a fiel in linux

I created a folder in Suse Linux 10, it was a folder and a kept souce code in that, now it was changed as a file, I can't opent that directory, its opening as a file, How can I change it to directory, please help in this regard.

if you or any app have deleted the directory and created a file instead you data is most likely gone.
if there is an error in the filesystem fsck may help
