Installing Network on Computer, might be driver

Hi All,

Just completing my second Solaris installation, in the previous one which was on a Dell X64 machine, I went through the Network configuration setting, on the current computer which I am installing Solaris on, its a custom built machine and for some reason, I didnt see the screen where I can configure network etc, also the name of the network interface is lo0.

ifconfig -a

this keeps showing the ip of 127.0.0.0, even after setting static IP, also the following files seem to be missing which is really weird, as all installations that I have done have always had the files present.

/etc/defaultrouter
/etc/resolv.conf
/etc/nsswitch.conf

Can someone please explain to me what is actually happening and how I can solve the problem.

Thanks.

Your NIC is unsupported out of the box.

Have a look at the Sun device detection tool there to figure out if a driver exists:

BigAdmin HCL: Sun Device Detection Tool

Obviously, you won't be able to connect from Solaris (yet?) so you'll need to boot your PC on another OS that would support your card (Windows or Linux).
