Yes is it disk related.

the `format` command has test functions. Read the man page for the command and use with care.

iostat -xEn will tell you whether you have to replace the disk.

iostat -En will def show that there are hard errors.. As what I can derive from the message here: Sep 15 06:01:12 scsi: [ID 107833 kern.notice] Sense Key: Hardware Error

beside this do not forget that iostat info count will be resetted only after reboot .. so if you had problem before (lets say with disk and you replaced it) that iostat indexed than it will show stale counts also .. Use format to check ..

/var/adm/messages vs /var/log/messages

The /var/adm/messages in Solaris seem to log more system messages/errors compared to /var/log/messages in Linux. I checked the log level in Linux and they seem OK. Is there any other log file that contains the messages or is it just that Linux doesn't log great many things? (2 Replies)
