sparc or x86 system? anyway... try "prtdiag -v". but be aware, sparc systems don't have a "bios". it's called "obp".

hello
sparc and x86.

prtdiag -v gives this on x86 (at the begining)

System Configuration: Dell Computer Corporation OptiPlex GX260
BIOS Configuration: Dell Computer Corporation A06 04/28/2003

and on sparc (at the end):
OBP 4.16.1 2004/09/03 04:22 Sun Fire V440,Netra 440
OBDIAG 4.16.1 2004/09/03 04:23

So this is the bios information. right?

Just use "banner" command at OK boot prompt if you are using SPARC machine. It gives full information.

I guess it works for you.
