Could backup with this condition?

Dear All,

I need to backup all directories under "/"(root) except "/home". Do you have any suggestions?

thank you in advance

First, you might want to give some information.

Is /home it's own filesystem?
What OS/version and what 'backup' software are you using?
Backup to tape or disk? Remote backup or local to server?

Or, you can just look at the man page for tar - note the exclude file option.
