Solaris and SAN

Hi,

How can we differentiate a SAN disk with a Solaris local disk?
Please respond.

Thanks

If you're using Veritas vxdisk list might show you. Looking at the disk names or diskgroup they belong to might provide the info.

Otherwise, the format command has a string that tells the manufacturer of the disk. That may tell you which disks are which.

Help

Hi,

Thank you so much for your response. However, I know that format commands list the disks but I want to know how to differentiate which disk belongs to host and which to SAN.
Please respond.

Thanks, Smilie

In the format command output it tells you. If it says something like "SUN 18G" it is an internal disk. SAN disks will list EMC, Hitachi, or whichever SAN vendor you have for those disks.
