apropos not working

Quote:
apropos ps
/usr/share/man/windex: No such file or directory
How come my 'apropos' cmd doesn't work in Solaris but works in Linux? How can I get it to work? Are the files in the 'companion' cd? Thanks.

I've worked on systems that don't have the 'apropos' command. But your system seems to be giving a different error message. Nonetheless, you can use 'man'. For more information, get a manual on 'man'.

Code:
man(1) man(1)

NAME
man - format and display the on-line manual pages

OPTIONS
...
       -k Equivalent to apropos.
