It refers to the Solaris 8 software release dated May 2003. The last (final) Solaris 8 release was in February 2004. Solaris 8 is in Sustaining Support phase of its life cycle.

But how to read that version.

I mean I read
Code:
Solaris 10 5/09 s10s_u7wos_08 SPARC

like

"Solaris 10 update 7 SPARC"

so how to read this -->>>>
Solaris 8 HW 5/03 s28s_hw2wos_06a SPARC

As far as I am aware the Solaris 8 releases were:
Code:
Solaris 8 6/00 Update 1
Solaris 8 10/00 Update 2
Solaris 8 1/01 Update 3
Solaris 8 4/01 Update 4
Solaris 8 7/01 Update 5
Solaris 8 10/01 Update 6
Solaris 8 2/02 Update 7
Solaris 8 HW 12/02 Hardware 1
Solaris 8 HW 5/03 Hardware 2
Solaris 8 HW 7/03 Hardware 3
Solaris 8 2/04 Hardware 4

So I guess you could call it Solaris 8 Hardware 2
