/dev/rmt empty

hi all ,

i have just installed solris 9 on a sun 280R ,and i have appleid the recommended patches .
after the installation i have found that /dev/rmt/ directory is empty , i thought that was normal , so i attached my DDS4 external tape drive and treid :
devfsadm -C
devfsadm -v
reboot -- '-r'
touch /.configure then reboot ,
but with little luck .

i have noticed a warning message on the console when i rbooted the system :

"kern.warning : WARNING: adm1031_0:0 iblock_cookie error: -1
kern.notice: WARNING: mod_load: cannot load module 'fcsm'

are these related and please how can i solve this problem

thanks
cheers

This link seems to suggest that your messages are harmless.

The sequence of commands that you ran seems to nearly be in reverse order. But the reconfiguration reboot should have done it. I don't know why the tape drive is not being seen, maybe it's busted. An empty /dev/rmt is normal for a system without tape drives.
