Question Cant configure video & nic (solaris 8 on x86)
can someone please through light on how to configure video and nic.

Dimension 3000 Series, Intel Pentium 4 Processor at 2.8GHz
256MB DDR SDRAM at 400MHz EA 0.00 0.00
17 in (17 in viewable) E173FP Flat Panel Display EA
Integrated Intel Extreme Graphics 2 EA
Intel Pro 100M Integrated PCI NIC Card

Check for yuor hardware in the Solaris 8 HCL if it's not there, it probably wont work. At a glance I'd say it's unlikely your devices are supported.

since i'll be logging in remotely I think i can ignore the quality of display. I'm plan on buying new nic which would be compatible. My question is..will i face any problems later on..if i install other applications such as web sever like...websphere or ap..? or oracle 9i. My goal is to integrate http server, oracel and websphere.

You shouldn't really have any other problems, but I have to ask.

Why not use solaris 9?

I can load the solaris 9. but i've been informed that there isnt much diff between sol8 and sol9.

x86 Solaris 10 nic driver added but not attached. NIC is not detected.

I couldn't install my nic in solaris 10. I compiled and added the driver but failed to attach the driver and ifconfig output shows only loopback dev.
