Solaris

Hi All,

I am looking for a fast track Solaris course in the UK which incorporates solaris system admin 1 and solaris system admin 2 in a 5 day spread.

I can currently only find doing the two courses separately which would take 10 days.

Can anyone help or am I going to have to do each one seperate?

Taking the admin 1 & 2 separately is good to allow you to comprehend the subjects, unless you are in a hurry .

I would agree if you have never done solaris administration before, however i have quite a few years of basic exposure to the solaris 10 O/S but each course offers things i need but on their own a lot is just going over again what i have already learnt through experience.

I got dropped in it being sole administrator of solaris 10 web servers on zfs file systems set up in LDom's, doesn't sound too complex but when you haven't set it up or used zfs or LDom's before troubleshooting becomes a lot more complicated, there are certain issues which i can resolve by work arounds (such as rebooting) but i would like to have the knowledge and understanding that would allow me to fix the issues at the root of the problem.

Ideally yes i would do seperately, but i dont think it would be too bad considering my knowledge if i did it together.

If that can help you out, the course number is PK-SA-420-FT. At least that's what the course name was back in May 2009.

I went to ExitCertified. Nice class but liek any other IT course, lots of useless stuff.

If you want to do the cert as well, get ready to play with printers.

That is what im looking for but I was hoping for this in the UK. All the courses i can find that do the fast track are in Northern America. and i wont get funded to go abroad to do this.

But how come Oracle doesn't offer fast track courses on Solaris in the UK, Strange.
Anyways if you are looking for fast track course you might consider India , I have never been to India before but I heard people who went their to got trained their I think it would be cheaper than the USA.

I guess the fast track course just isn't requied very much, especially not in the UK.
Training has to be in the UK, the company i work for wont send me on any courses abroad, even if it does end up cheaper. Although we have corporate rates of training with a few suppliers so get some good discounts so it probably wont end up being cheaper once flights and hotels are paid for etc.
