Boot question

I have to install Solaris 10 (for x86 CPU) on my pc.
How can I do a dual boot solaris and Windows 7, on the same hard disc?
I searched here, but it works with windows NT, not Seven.
May I use a bootloader? How I can do it?

Thank you in advance for any answer! Smilie

Make sure that is the latest update (10/09).

The usual answer is install Windows first and Solaris last. Solaris boot loader should just include Windows in its boot menu.

Indeed, this is to be expected as this pretty obsolete page predates both Solaris 10 and Windows Seven.

You always do it, whether the Windows one or Solaris one (Grub now)[/QUOTE]

Thank you! Your post is very helpful! Smilie
Only two questions:
Does the version of Solaris that you suggested support:
1- SATA hard drives;
2- Nvidia grafic card and mobo;
3- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU?

If not, can I install anyway?

Thank you for any answer and sorry for the late relpy Smilie

One would normally check one of the Solaris Hardware Compatibility Lists, they can found from this page:
Solaris OS: Hardware Compatibility Lists

This page lists numerous SATA drives:
BigAdmin - Solaris OS: Hardware Compatibility List

This one lists numerous NVIDIA graphics cards:
BigAdmin - Solaris OS: Hardware Compatibility List

Core 2 duo processor motherboards do get a mention also.

Sure, that's pretty standard specs nowadays.

If this is a laptop (and even if it's not), you might want to install an OpenSolaris based distribution instead for a better and simpler support.

Thank you for the helpful answers!
I'm going to install Solaris 10 (not OpenSolaris because I have to use CDE), on my system (it is a desktop, not a laptop).
Thank you again! Smilie

PS: If i'll get an error that I cannot solve, then I'll post here!

---------- Post updated at 11:49 PM ---------- Previous update was at 01:50 PM ----------

I got an error in the boot with Solaris 10 DVD!
Code:

Then it just hangs! Smilie
How can I get it works?
Have I to change BIOS settings?

Thanks to all for any answer. Smilie

Make two partitions one for Solaris 10 , one for windows .
First install windows later Solaris 10 , it will add automatically chain loader in GRUB menu.

Or you can install Solaris 10 on separate disk , then you will need to modify GRUB configuration file because windows will not boot from other then primary partion, editing grub is doing thaht windows thinks it is on primary partition.

It is early and I did not drink my coffe yet .

And for yout problem try reconfiguration boot

Code:
touch /reconfigure
boot -r
