Solaris

Hi, Im getting a downtime to upgrade a Solaris 8 system to Solaris 10 U8. Thus live upgrade is not necessary. Can I do the following?
1.break the svm mirror
2.change boot disk to raw device replacing the metadevice entries
3.from ok> prompt, boot cdrom <solaris 10 DVD>
4. Follow the screens of installation and choose "Upgrade Installation" and complete the steps.

Can this work? Let me know if Im wrong

Incredible, it is very unusual for you to be asking a question rather than answering it!
I therefore humbly propose that on the sub-mirror you are intending to upgrade I would change the /etc/vfstab mount entries from the metadevices back to the normal disks and remove the metadevice stuff from /etc/system as well and then ensure you can boot off that okay before proceeding to step 3?

Thank you Tony. The reason is I have not done a normal upgrade myself from Solaris 8 to 10. I have experience with Live upgrade. That's why I need to ask before "touching" others' system.
Im NOT doing a Live upgrade. So my question to confirm was, whether I can do the upgrade install in a normal way rather than using a live upgrade method.

One more thing, I have done normal upgrade via CD install from Solaris 9 to 10. SO Im not sure if 8 to 10 will work. Kindly shed some light. I had no time to prepare and Im getting the downtime within the next 8 hours

Done it!! successful with my applications working fine after the standard upgrade without going through the hassles of patching the system for live upgrade method. Normal upgrade is perfectly working just fine
