sendmail - config help?

Hi,

I need to configure sendmail to use an external mail server for internet mail's...

Anyone help me at all?

Why sendmail? I'll use sendmail when it is dictated by a company, but perfer MTA(s) such as qmail or postfix.

qmail is not RFC compliant ( does not supports DSNs, for example ), besides it has a very weird, anti-standard, installation and functioning methods...

And on Solaris and other OSs, it makes sense to use sendmail because it's part of the operating system, and it has support...

It's just my opinion, but I always use sendmail when I need a good MTA... if it has some bugs, every MTA does...

I'll not start the debate here, as it is still running rampant over the web and can be found elsewhere w/o eating our bandwidth here.

Hi All,

Thanks for your help - I will get cracking on configuring this now.
I do agree that there are possibly better solutions, but as sendmail seems to be pretty much standard it suits my purposes better...

are you talking about a relay host? a place to send all non-local mail?

# "Smart" relay host (may be null)
DSrelay-goes-here

if relaying is not what you are talking about mabey i am not understanding your question.
