Break command on rsc of sunfire v890 server

Hi Gurus

I would like to know whether break command always work well means take the system to ok> prompt. Its depend upon sever model also. As I am facing problem when ever my system ( Sunfire V890 ) having Solaris 10 OS & oracle RAC on it goes to hang state then I run the break command from rsc> prompt,it doesn't take the system to ok> prompt. The thing we can do is poweroff & then poweron command through rsc> prompt to up the system again.

Kind Regards

is the key of the 890 in the "locked" position?

then the "break" command should work... check the server for latest rsc and obp firmware. but the system should not go to "hang" state... looks like something isn't working properly at all.

Thanks for the reply DukeNuke. Sorry for Delay as I was not well.

We even run so many times diagnotic at max level also but we didn't get any error in that. We even change the I/O & Mother Board also. but even then we did get the system into hang state. That time Our patch level was 120011-14 also . Then we update patch level of OS to 141414-10 also, after that system goes into hange state only once also. But before patch activity system goes into hang state around 15 to 17 times.

As this is a databse server into cluster mode we cannot do the sun cluster patch activity before that server do not comes to stable state. Same OS patch level & cluster level activity on other server till the hang server do not comes to stable state.

Kindly help on this matter also

this isn't a small issue... you should open up a call at sun and share your problems with sun support.
