when you are using solaris 9 samba is already installed

pkginfo | grep -i samba

system SUNWsmbac samba - A Windows SMB/CIFS fileserver for UNIX (client)
system SUNWsmbar samba - A Windows SMB/CIFS fileserver for UNIX (Root)
system SUNWsmbau samba - A Windows SMB/CIFS fileserver for UNIX (Usr)

when you are looking into your rc3.d dir you will find S90samba
case "$1" in
[ -f /etc/sfw/smb.conf ] || exit 0

/usr/sfw/sbin/smbd -D
/usr/sfw/sbin/nmbd -D

so look into your /etc/sfw and you will find an example.....
