Information about taking dump of a unix server on a tape and then restoring

Hi all,

Can anyone provide me with a site or book that gives detailed information about taking dump of a unix server on a tape and then restoring the server from the dump

Also i want information about migration from old server to new server (solaris 5.6 to solaris 8)

Scatological humor aside, the S10 admin guide has a ton of information about this (and it's part of the SCSA exam if you're interested).

look up the commands :-

ufsdump / ufsrestore
tar
dd
flarcreate

All the above commands can be taylored to copy your system drives to a tape device unit. A system can be backed up into one big chunk, little slices, partitions, or individual files.
