Corrupt label bad geometry

Hi,

I have a Sun X4200, when I try to reboot the machine it's not detecting the drive and it shows the following error when I try to rebuilt it. I am not sure whether its a bad HD or something else.

Label says 983040 blocks: Drive says 983039 blocks
WARNING: /pci@7b................................
Corrupt label - bad geometry.

Any ideas?

is this a new setup? At least do you see the LED on the disk when the system is powered on? If yes, check the format output. select the disk and label it.
if no, first check the firmware of your system if it was upgraded, check the part-number of the disk if its supported for THAT system. If all ok, try inserting the disk on another slot. If it works here, it means that the backplane has issues. Have experianced this myself
