linux installation

Hi,

Well I am installing Enterprise Linux 3.0 version, using CD...

but what my doubt is , is there any possibility for me, to copy the contents of all the cd and have it in a folder like disk1,disk2,disk3 and disk4...

while switching on the server, it will ask for the boot mode, like, CD rom mode, or any path,....

so if i give the path of the installation files.. can i install linux..

pls help

merely copying of the CD contents to ur drive
will not help

instead take a boot copy (boot image) of ur CD

boot mode u can specify any of the IDE's (not the path in HDD-IDE)

i dont think u can install specifying a path ...

most of the CDR (CD - Recording programs) do have an option - boot from image
the contents of the CD are burnt to form a bootable image

by creating a bootable image acutally, you are creating a boot CD
now the boot CD created contains the BR (Boot Record) that is emulated to the boot drive (Bootable emulation)

(non-bootable emulation results in the default action as specified ... our mp3 CDs, game CDs and other stuff).

In turn an allocated sector called the boot catalogue be created under the Boot Record and that would have the boot image that was created with CDR's

now you are ready with the Boot CD (to boot) capable of booting ur SYS.
