It works fine on my system, but maybe not with an earlier version of awk, try this:

awk '/total/{c=11}c>0{c--;print;if(c==0){print "======"}}' file

brute force in ksh works juuuuust fine:


cat /etc/passwd |
while read line ; do




  if [[ $line = *${pattern}* ]]; then

    for x in 9 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 1 0 ; do

      print "${lines[x]}"
