Root privilages
I maintain the root password so the other sysadmins cannot have it due to security. They have a script that is used to shutdown and reboot multiple clients. but it needs to be run as root. they mentioned sticky bit and another type of setting called RBAC. I want them to be able to run this script but not have root nor give them any type of access with root if i do this.

chown root script.sh
chmod u+s script.sh

would this work or is it creating a big security hole?

Whether or not that would work depends on the os. And if it works, it is not best practice from a security standpoint. A better solution is to use sudo. There are many sudo threads on this site. Use our search feature and read some of them.

yes i just talked to our Solaris expert he pointed me towards sudo or RBAC. i am trying RBAC right now. thanks

The advantage of sudo is that is is available cross-platform, whereas Sun's RBAC is specific to Solaris 10.
