Hi
I need to restore an oracle backup from production in a test x86 Solaris 10 box . But the space is limited and does not have enough to hold both the backup as well as database . Hence , I am thinking of mapping a network drive from another x86 Solaris 10.

Hi all ,
can any one tell me how to enable ftp/ssh services in solarie 8 machine.
if this services cannot be enabled on solarie 8 machine can you kindly suggest any other alternative.

I'm building a new server that doesn't have an internal tape drive. It is running 5.3ML8. I have another server running 5.1ML9 that has an LTO1 drive I'd like to share.

I have a Solaris 10 OS. I would like to map a network drive to a Windows machine. I have typed the following command
#mount 192.1.1.1:/content_dir /windows
192.1.1.1 - ip address of my windows box

I am currently using tar to backup a server that has 9gb of data.
This is fine and works fine, as part of this I send the backup to a remote tape on a remote server using rsh..
This is not very secure though is it?
Whats the best idea here - is there another way I should do this to be more... (1 Reply)
