Exit status of last run command is stored in a special variable $?. Read this link , and see how you can use this to suit your purpose. Let us know what you could come up with.

Mod Comment Some remarks which you please TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION because failure to do so might result in infractions and subsequent removal of posting rights:

1) look at the display of your posting and ask yourself: would you answer to this? You tried to cram everything into the title (which is not indended to hold so much text) and your posts body only consists of "help me". You could write your message text into the body and come up with a signifcant title, no?

2) you might not realize it, but on the other (our!) side of the internet there are human beings at work. "help me" might be the correct way to address a serf, but i - i admit, might be old-fashioned - like to be addressed with some "please" here and there, if my help is required.

There might be no rule for it and there might be no repercussion (other than the occasional silence instead of an answer), but in most cases being polite and attempting to accommodate others gets you more mileage than being brash.

I hope this helps.
