How to grep the exact name?
Hi All

Here is one o/p from a program I have ...

Quote:
$ p4 users | grep "^li"
li <tli@mydomail.com> (Thomas Li) accessed 2006/01/30
limin <limin@mydomail.com> (Limin Liu) accessed 2006/01/30
Can someone tell me the way so that I get only the output by the user "li" not the other users which have "li" in the name.

Surely I dont like the idea

You could also try "grep -w"......this looks for whole words
