cron good - but anything better?
I use cron for submitting job - batches etc... and its good and easy to use..
But is there anything better?

ie.. I want to be able to submit some jobs at 1min and 30 secs past an hour (instead of crons 1 min or 2 min past the hour)

I dont think you can do this in cron - is there anything else that can do what cron does but also allow you to submit jobs as above?

Hmm... you could do something within the script itself, although it's not going to be an exact science.....

i.e. execute this from cron at 1 minute past the hour

Code:
#!/bin/sh

sleep 30
run_my_commands

A kludge, at best....

was hoping for something more - as the script will still be running as a process and sleep will also be running..


Any other ideas?

Cron job running even after cron is removed

Hi , I have removed a cron for particular user , but cron job seems to be running even after the cron entry is removed. cron job starts new cron proccess

I run cron in solaris 10 zone. One cron job which syncing files to nfs mounted on container, creates after finishing another cron proccess(/usr/sbin/cron), and after 100 existing cron proccesses next cron job will not start. Hi, I can use 'crontabs –e' and do all the scheduling I like. However I would like to auto send myself just the cronjobs logs that fail.
