I have a generic id say "abc". In a client i logged into using this generic id and generated the key for autologin to do ssh to a server.
I have kept the key in authorized_keys file in the server under the home directory of this generic id. (/u/abc/.ssh/authorized_keys)

While trying to supress password prompt using ssh. I have added .ssh folder manually and generated public key and added to authorized_keys file in the remote machine. But still it's prompting for passwords with the following message:

Hi,
I have created a new user as below:
useradd -g staff -s /usr/bin/ksh test2
passwd test2
<type in new password>
<type in new password>
and I could not login via ssh with this username while I can do it with another username.
Can anyone tell anything missing?

Till now i am using .netrc file for auto-connection to connect to remote system. my shell script contains like below code
ex: ftp -i <remote system name>
from now i should NOT use .netrc file
how can i login automativally with out asking userid and pqssword.

I am currently setting up rdiff-backup to use ssh to connect and remotely backup and retrieve data. I am doing so by creating rsa keys for each server and copying the relevant key to the /.ssh folder on the relevant server.
