$(...) is the same as `...`, I don't know if it's EXACTLY the same, but almost everyone recommend to use $(...)

OK, then to be consistent in Deepak's script, the below command:

HOST="`grep "system hostname" $FILE2 | awk '{print $3}'`"

can be written as:
