Thanks DGPickett

I am not using php database interface because I am running the query in a remote server, and ssh/ftp is switched off in my version of php, also since I am not the administrator I cannot change the settings. That's why I am executing a shell script for connecting to remote server, running query, saving it in a file and making it available to php to read.

I used colsep before the query and now I am having this in a file:

Code:
NAME : STAT : COUNT(*)
------------------------: ---------------: ----------
Ss ee dd : Accccccccccccc : 508
Hh Hhh Sss : Fallll : 7
Wig Sss : Fallll : 241
Aaa Sim : Pennnnnn : 611

I need to get all the elements (seperated by ":") and put that into a table. Also I need to implement sort functionality on the table.

Any leads?

Thanks....

A shell script could open an ssh tunnel for the native php to access the same db server. Of course, that might violate local security policy. I wonder if ssh can limit the pipe to localhost clients?

Why not sort upstream with 'order by' in SQL?

Code:
sed '
  /^--*:/d
  s/ *: */<TD>/
  s/^/<TR>/
  1s/^/<TABLE>/
  $s/$/<\/TABLE>/
 '
