Executing mutliple commands in Unix
Hi
I always do a ftp in Unix to bring in a file from Mainframes. Then run a set of commands say 8 commands one by one to execute the brought in file. Upon completion of this commands, the data from the file gets transfered to Mainframe database. The problem is i can execute only 1 file at a time. Can you please provide me a solution wherin i can execute multiple files and there is no need for me to repeat the so called 8 steps again and again?

can u elaborate little more. I am not sure what exactly you are trying to do..

@cnelatur, I am not very clear what your exact requirement is. But this is my understanding:

You get (via ftp) multiple files from the mainframe. Run a bunch of commands (8 of them) on each one of them. It seems, you do not want the repeat these same steps in a single script, for each one of the files received.

If so, I would split the ftp and the 8 commands into 2 separate scripts. Execute ftp and if successful, run your other script (with the 8 commands). This way, the only thing that repeats are the calls to these scripts.
