BASH function error

Hey everyone.
I am currently testing my first function based BASH script. The ultimate goal is going to be moving logs from point A to point B (or if B is down, to point C).
Part of this involves the following function:

Code:
function testAlive{
        ping -c 1 -q $1
}

Now when I run ping -c 1 -q $PRIMARY (the non-function version) this works just fine. However it's giving me the following error when I run it as a function:
Code:
test.sh: syntax error near unexpected token 'ping'
test.sh: 'ping -c 1 -q $1'

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There is a missing space after function name :
Code:
function testAlive {
        ping -c 1 -q $1
}

Jean-Pierre.
