Shell Programming and Scripting

I have a command called raidconfig list raid -v

assume , it gives the output

a b c
j k l
x y z

but when I print using echo command ( i e :- echo `raidconfig list raid -v` ), it gives the output

a b c j k l x y z

whereas I need to print the same output the command gives .

It works fine when I use print ( print "raidconfig list raid -v") .
But print works with perl not with shell .
Is there any command in shell what print does in perl .

when you normally execute the above command, it will give the output in terminal

`raidconfig list raid -v`

why do you put echo ?

just put the below in your shell script

`raidconfig list raid -v`

That works fine .
But I saw a script were we use print in perl .Why do they use print in perl . Is that , perl does not work in same manner ?
