Sed script help

Hi All,
I have a requirement where i have a test file which has a list of filenames, i have to read through the text file, and replace the filename with path and filename
Here is my code im using...
Code:
 
for line in `cat ~/manipulate.txt`
 do
 `sed 's/$line/cksum $line \/path\/to\/file\/name\/$line/'` >> manipula.txt
 done

The contents of manipulate.txt is like this :

 def.xsl
 ghi.xsl
 jkl.xsl
 mno.xsl

It is not working.. please help me...

Im basically trying to find if the file has been changed, the solution that you gave does not fullfill my needs...

cksum mno.xsl /path/to/file/mno.xsl

Hi.

s!.*!cksum & /path/to/file/&!

It substitutes the whole line with cksum followed by the original line, then the path, then the whole line again. & references the matched pattern space (.* - i.e. the whole line in this case). ! separates the regular expression (.* in this case) from the replacement (cksum & ...) and options to the s command. This can be almost any character, but by convention a slash / is used for this. As your replacement contains slashes it can get messy, so we chose something else.
