and one more,
i have tested the same with the below code:

Code:
prompt>echo "test" | mail -r "\"someothermailid"\" -s "sample" arunprasad.thangaraj@domain.com
prompt>

The below is the sender information:

123/C//Company/someothermailid/USR <someothermailid@domain.com>
Note: i received mail successfully with different sender name. what i logged in as "myownid". Now i can able to change the sender mail id.

I am using Lotus Notes and the above mail will display as "123/C//Company/someothermailid/USR " and date and subject in my inbox. When i open only i can see the mail address of the sender. This postmaster note is not changing.

My another requirement is, to send a mail which receives like: "someothermailid <someothermailid@domain.com>" not like "123/C//Company/someothermailid/USR <someothermailid@domain.com>".

can you please help me out, how i can achieve this?

Change sender e-mail address

When sending emails to the outside world, aix present itself as d_prod@production1.pdc.itercom.org. This is causing some issue with our e-mail server. So we need to change the name to d_prod@itercom.org... Does any one know how this can be accomplished? Thank you (3 Replies)

NAME

       biff - Notifies users when mail arrives

SYNOPSIS

       biff [y | n]

DESCRIPTION

       The  biff  command  informs the system whether you want to be notified when mail arrives during the current terminal session. The following
       command enables notification: biff y

       The following command disables notification: biff n

       When mail notification is enabled, the From: and Subject: header lines and up to the first five lines of the  message  are  displayed.  The
       total display is 560 characters, or seven lines terminated by newline characters, whichever occurs first.

       The biff y command is often included in the $HOME/.login or $HOME/.profile file to be executed each time you log in.

       The biff command operates asynchronously. For synchronous notification, use the MAIL variable of sh or ksh, or the mail variable of csh.

EXAMPLES

       To  display  the current setting, enter: biff To be notified during the current terminal session whenever mail arrives, enter the following
       in your $HOME/.login or $HOME/.profile file: biff y

FILES

       Read by login shell (after login.  User profile.
