1) They have the impression NIS isnt working properly anyway. (They wont delete users because it went wrong once).

Solaris - Moving off NIS to something better

Mostly Solaris 11 with some 10 and even fewer 8 and 9.

At the moment, NIS is used.

Looking for a better way and to get rid of NIS.

Its Solaris 11 you can't do it this way anymore....

Its Solaris 11 you can't do it this way anymore. Have to use svccfg.

I rebooted the server and it worked fine but documentation seems to imply that you don't need to do this any more.

Different in Solaris 10 in that you don't just edit TIMEZONE file. LANG is currently set to en_US.UTF-8 and want it to be C.

Of course, if you've got multiple ldoms on, say a T5-4, with only one of these ldoms running oracle you dont want to pay a licence...

Listing files/space used on root partition

For instance, root partition is full so I don't need to know about /ABC/XYZ when /ABC/XYZ is a separate mount point. (But /ABC isnt).

Can I run a du command or similar and just look at contents...
