While uncompress , gunzip filename.cpio.gz getting the fg. error

gunzip: filename.cpio.gz: unexpected end of file.


Whats the problem?
Size of this .gz file is 660mb .

what is .CPR in / directory ? Its a very huge file. Is there any way to trim this file ?

Thanx for the immediate reply . Found one core file in /opt/splash/ .. .. deleted.

/var/adm/messages.* - 5 files deleted

/usr/perl5 -- deleted
/usr/apache -- deleted
